What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is based on the understanding that good health depends, in part, on a normally functioning nervous system. Chiropractic works by helping to restore your inborn ability to be healthy. When under the proper control of your nervous system, all the cells, tissues and organs of your body are designed to function well and resist disease and ill health. The Chiropractic approach to better health is to locate interferences to the nervous system and reduce or eliminate them.

One of the most common areas of interference comes from the spine. It comprises 24 moveable bones, each called a vertebra. These vertebrae protect the communication pathways of the spinal cord and all the nerves as they branch off the spinal cord to supply all of the tissues of your body. A loss of normal movement or positioning of one or more of these vertebrae can result in irritation to the nerves and subsequently disrupt their normal function. Chiropractors call this the Vertebral Subluxation Complex or simply Subluxation.

The spine

Chiropractors aim to improve the functioning of the spine by locating these areas of subluxation and, through the use of Chiropractic adjustments, restore normal movement. When the spine is working at its best, free from subluxation, the nervous system functions optimally and the body will enjoy the very best of health.

Chiropractic is a drug free, natural health care discipline. Chiropractic is a lifestyle, a way of helping your body perform at its absolute best whatever challenges it faces. Whether it's an injury, the repetitive strains of work or the common cold, Chiropractic can help you get well and stay well and perform at your best.
